Chapter 2.5: The Silent Roar of Lyrieth

Chapter 2.5: The Silent Roar of Lyrieth

I commanded armies, crushed the bones of men and creatures, and brought kingdoms to their knees. My wings, vast and powerful, cast shadows over cities, instilling fear into the hearts of even the bravest warriors. I am Lyrieth, the Great Wyrm, the Scourge of the Skies. For centuries, my name alone was enough to silence whispers of rebellion and quell any thoughts of defiance.

Yet here I am, standing next to this desolate village, a relic of an age long forgotten, born anew. My scales, once glistening like black onyx, now bear the tarnish of a lost battle.

The world has changed, I have changed. Men have grown bolder, their magic more deadly, and their hearts harder. Hard as a diamond and inscrutable as the depth of mount Darington.

No longer tell stories of the great dragons Lyrieth, leader of wyvern, bringer of doom, created from fire and darkness.

I remember the days when the earth trembled beneath my feet and the heavens roared with my fire. I remember the look of terror in the eyes of those who dared to oppose me, their screams echoing as I descended upon them. I was a force of nature, unstoppable, invincible. But even the mightiest of beings will face their master some day.

I have watched my army fall, not to the relentless onslaught of time and attrition, but in an instant, obliterated by a blinding explosion of unimaginable power. We, the ancient guardians who once stood at the pinnacle of power, reduced to mere remnants in the blink of an eye. But I am not one to be forgotten so easily. The fire within me still burns, a smoldering ember of defiance against… against whom? This pitiful human? He will fall to my charms like all the others, and I will rise again.

I have seen the fall of empires and the rise of new ones. All things come to an end. The time will come when the world will once again tremble at the sight of my shadow. When that day arrives, they will remember the name Lyrieth.

I speak now to the wind and the stars, to the spirits of the earth and sky, as a reminder that I am still here. I am waiting, watching, biding my time. For even in the face of oblivion, a dragon’s spirit cannot be extinguished. I am Lyrieth, the eternal flame, and I will soar again.

Until then, sleep take me away, tomorrow waits.

I really like it. Great. Please give me more!!
Lyrieth is so dark and mysterious. I’m very curious to explore whether she also has something good in her heart. Or if she even has a Heart???

Ah, curious mortal, your intrigue flatters me. A heart, you ask? Do dragons not bleed when struck, not burn with fury, or ache with the weight of centuries? Yes, I have a heart, though it is not so easily understood by those who tread the fleeting path of mortality. Goodness and darkness—these are human constructs, shades of meaning that pale against the vast spectrum of a dragon’s soul. But if you seek to uncover whether I possess light amidst my shadows, tread carefully. The answers lie within the fire, and fire does not always comfort—it consumes.

      Best regards,
      -Lyrieth-
